Saint Andre Fort

Saint Andre fort - Villeneuve les Avignon Philippe le Bel, King of France, ordered the construction of the Saint André Fort as a symbol of royal power in opposition to the popes of Avignon and to the lands of the Holy Roman Empire. It includes a fortified wall and two twin towers that flank the monumental gate. The wall was built to protect the Benedictine abbey and the small town of Saint André.

10 am-noon and 2-5 pm
April 1-September 30:
10 am-12:30 pm and 2 -6 pm
Closed  January 1, May 1, November 1 and 11, December 25.
